Project: "Theatre for Social Change" sponsored in part by Bravo
Greater Des Moines at Des Moines Social Club on Friday, August
14th at 6:30 PM. In collaboration with Girl Scouts of Greater
Iowa and the Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa. Facilitated
by Adventures in Social Drama.

Des Moines area students discover that through dramatic arts
they are able to voice their concerns about relational aggression
occurring within their communities and schools. Students portray
their own real-life conflicts including experiences with bullying,
gossip, and peer pressure through characters they re-create.
Individuals' enacting these dramatic scenes in a group setting
explore challenging social issues, validate one another's personal
experiences, develop a sense of self-worth, and establish community-based
relationships; where individuals are held accountable for their
actions. Project Theatre for Social Change (TSC) is an interactive
program that creates a safe environment which fosters learning
opportunities through the development of conflict/resolution
in role-play scenarios. This process enables the individual
to transform their reality through the arts; leading to a healthier
sense of self as the individual participants become the playwright
as well as the director of their own lives.

Members of the Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa in collaboration with
The Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa are scheduled to perform
at The Des Moines Social Club, located at 1408 Locust Ave on Friday,
August 14th at 6:30 PM. This program is made possible in part
by a grant from Bravo Greater Des Moines that assists the cultural
community in providing Greater Des Moines with an enriched quality
of life and from funding provided by the Girl Scouts of Greater
Iowa, dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence and character
who make the world a better place.
